Dr. Tracy Scull (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Janis Kupersmidt (Co-Investigator) have received a Phase II SBIR grant from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHD) to continue the development of Media World Relationships (MWR), a prevention program that focuses on teaching media literacy education to students in grades 7-9 to increase critical thinking skills about media messages, increase intentions to abstain from sexual activity, and increase the likelihood of safe behaviors should sexual activity occur. The ultimate goals of the program are to prevent early sexual behaviors, STI transmission, and teen pregnancy.
