Alison Parker, PhD, a Research Scientist II at iRT, participated in a panel discussion at Duke University’ s Careers Beyond Academia series held for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The panel discussion, “Careers in Research for Humanities and Social Sciences PhDs” allowed attendees to hear information about research-focused jobs that are available for people who receive PhDs in the social sciences and humanities fields. Panelists explained how they navigated the application process to find their current positions, and what the typical workday of a researcher looks like. In addition to iRT’s own Alison Parker, other panelists included; Robert Beach, PhD, Senior Economist, RTI International, Benjamin Dalton, PhD, Senior Education Researcher, RTI International, and Joyce Kurpiers, PhD, Qualitative Researcher, Kurpiers Consulting.
