Welcome to the Revibe Classroom Study!

We are looking for children aged 8- to 12-years-old who have been diagnosed with ADHD and one of their parents to participate in a study.

This study is being conducted by a research team at innovation Research & Training (iRT), a behavioral sciences research company in Durham, NC, in collaboration with Pearson, an educational assessment company.

Pearson is developing the third generation of Revibe, a wearable device based on a Samsung Galaxy series watch. The Revibe device works by periodically sending vibration signals to the wrist to remind children to stay on-task or return to task when distracted. The goal of this study is to test how the Revibe device works with children in a classroom setting in order to develop a new behavioral intervention for children to help them stay on task and pay attention.

WHAT WILL PARTICIPANTS BE ASKED TO DO?

  • Children will participate in a small group in a simulated classroom session with a teacher while wearing a Revibe device.
  • The teacher will lead several brief lessons and activities as well as ask children to complete a questionnaire, as part of a 90-minute session.
  • The classroom session will be videotaped to allow observers to code the body movements and on- and off-task behaviors of the participants in the study.
  • Parents will complete a brief questionnaire about their child’s behavior.
  • Participation is voluntary and participants can stop at any time.
  • All responses will be kept confidential.

WHERE WILL THE STUDY TAKE PLACE AND FOR HOW LONG?

  • Parents will complete a questionnaire at home on a computer, tablet, or smartphone device, and completion of the questionnaire will take approximately 30 minutes.
  • Children will attend the in-person, classroom session at a school in Wake County, NC, on a scheduled weekend date. The total session length is expected to be 2 hours or less.

WHAT WILL PARTICIPANTS GET FOR PARTICIPATION?

  • Parent-child pairs will receive either the Revibe wearable device (with 1-year free subscription) OR a $200 gift card (pairs will be able select which option they would like to receive).

IF INTERESTED IN THE STUDY:

Parent must first complete a brief eligibility survey by clicking on the button below. A study team member will follow up with families who sign up for the study. All responses will be kept confidential.
