Liz Reeder

OVERVIEW

As a research specialist, Liz is often traveling around the country for in-school data collections where she administers paper and online surveys in classrooms. She aids in qualitative data coding, grant writing, content development, study recruitment, and study coordination, in addition to her role as IRB administrator. She is proficient in survey creation platforms such as Qualtrics and Surveymonkey, as well as iRT’s proprietary data collection system, eTrove. Liz contributes creatively to the development of new projects and programs, with a focus on inclusivity and LGBTQ representation; she also frequently lends her voice for narrations and videos. A big fan of the Durham Scrap Exchange, Liz enjoys crafting and textile arts from jewelry making, fused glass, quilting and apparel sewing, and more!

National Institute of Nursing Research. Web-based Resource for Children and Adolescents about Clinical Research. R44NR019565 (Co-PI: Alison E. Parker; Co-PI: Tracy M. Scull). 3/19/2020 – 7/31/2022. The purpose is to develop and evaluate a web-based resource to educate adolescents about participating in pediatric clinical trials. Role: Research Assistant.

Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Web-Based High School Media Literacy for Healthy Relationships. R44HD088254 (PI: Tracy M. Scull; Co-I: Christina Malik) 9/26/2018-5/31/2021. The purpose of this Phase II grant is to complete the development of a self-paced, highly interactive web-based program designed to provide high school-aged youth with comprehensive sexual health education using a media literacy education framework. An RCT will examine the effects of the program on adolescents’ media- and health-related outcomes. Role: Research Assistant.

Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Mechanisms of Media Literacy Education for Promoting Relationship Health in Older Adolescents. R01HD099134 (PI:  Tracy M. Scull; Co-I: Christina Malik; Co-I: Janis Kupersmidt) 4/6/2020-3/31/2025. The purpose of this project is to conduct a three-arm randomized control trial with older adolescents (i.e., ages 18-19) attending community college to isolate the effects of media literacy education on sexual and relationship health outcomes and to examine the trajectory of media literacy education effects on sexual and relationship health over time. Role: Research Assistant.

The purpose is to develop a mobile application that can be used by parents in pediatric waiting rooms and assist pediatricians with the screening of youth at risk for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
