January 22, 2025, Durham, NC \u2013 iRT is pleased to announce that it has begun a collaboration with the Southeast Prevention Technology Transfer Center<\/a> (Southeast PTTC) to explore and advance substance misuse prevention efforts in the Southeastern United States.<\/p>\n

The Southeast PTTC, housed at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, is one of 10 regional centers that are part of the Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) Network (https:\/\/pttcnetwork.org\/). The network was created to improve the implementation and delivery of evidence-based substance misuse prevention strategies across the nation. Funded by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Southeast PTTC offers training and technical assistance services to the substance misuse prevention workforce in eight states in the southeastern United States including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee (https:\/\/pttcnetwork.org\/center\/southeast-pttc\/).<\/p>\n

The modern era presents new challenges to addressing substance misuse, as trends in substance misuse continue to evolve. iRT\u2019s and the Southeast PTTC\u2019s shared mission to advance innovative solutions to this public health problem inspired their collaboration. The strategic partnership will blend Southeast PTTC\u2019s expertise in effective intervention strategies for diverse populations with iRT\u2019s proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based substance misuse prevention programs and services and in developing professional development curricula for prevention professionals.<\/p>\n

Together, iRT and the Southeast PTTC are working to develop a curriculum that will be used to train prevention professionals on effective policy interventions as a strategy to prevent substance misuse at the community level. This project will build upon the Southeast PTTC\u2019s existing resources, as well as creating new and innovative resources, including webinars, documents, and self-paced online trainings, to help prevention professionals apply evidence-based policy strategies in their communities. Topics and objectives for the curriculum will undergo a rigorous review process to ensure that all training components will be relevant and helpful to prevention professionals.<\/p>\n

Finally, iRT will support the Southeast PTTC in migrating its existing library of professional development content to iRT\u2019s eTrove<\/em> learning management system (LMS). eTrove <\/em>will allow for a better user experience, efficient tracking and monitoring of individuals who are enrolled in eLearning content, automated awarding of certificates and certifications, and reporting of relevant learner outcomes.<\/p>\n
