DOI:10.1080\/10810730.2011.635769. <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/23275894\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PMC3530162<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Abstract<\/h2>\n<p><b>Objectives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Media Ready<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Program was designed as a middle school, media literacy education, preventive intervention program to improve adolescents\u2019 media literacy skills and reduce their intention to use alcohol or tobacco products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Method<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a short-term efficacy trial, schools in North Carolina were randomly assigned to conditions (Media Ready: n=214; control: n=198).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Results<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boys in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Media Ready<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> group reported significantly less intention to use alcohol in the future than did boys in the control group.
