Her presentation titled, “Media Literacy Education for Substance Abuse Prevention: Results of Three Efficacy Trials,” included an overview of using school-based media literacy education programs for substance abuse prevention and the results from three randomized controlled trials, based on grants funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). She was joined in her presentation by Dr. Augie Diana, program officer at NIDA, who spoke about the prevention portfolio at NIDA as well as the importance of media literacy interventions for substance abuse prevention.
